PS5 or Xbox loud? Cleaning and new thermal paste in Odense

Is your PlayStation or Xbox loud, or does it shut down from heat? See the signs and what a professional cleaning includes.

Modern consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are powerful computers that need a lot of cooling. The fan pulls air in – and with the air come dust, pet hair and dirt that build up inside the machine over time.

Signs your console needs cleaning

  • The fan is very loud, even in less demanding games.
  • The console suddenly turns off and shows a message that it is too hot.
  • Games stutter or drop frames, because the console lowers performance to protect itself from the heat.

Why is dust a problem?

Dust settles like a blanket on the heat sink and the fan, so the heat cannot get away from the processor. If the console runs hot for a long time, the thermal paste can dry out, and at worst it can cause faults on the logic board.

What we do at REPAIRO

We take the console apart and clean the fan, heat sink and casing with compressed air and antistatic brushes. After assessment we replace the thermal paste (or the liquid metal on PS5) on the processor. Then we test the console under load.

No picture on the TV?

If the problem is that the TV shows nothing, it is more often the HDMI port. Read about a faulty HDMI port on PS5.

How long does it take?

Typically from the same day to 1–3 days, depending on the console and what we find. You can also send it by post from anywhere in Denmark – read about mail-in.

REPAIRO is an independent repair shop and is not authorised by Sony or Microsoft.
